How Junk Bin Rental Works

We keep it simple!

  1. Give us a call and arrange the bin size and delivery.
  2. Fill the bin.
  3. Call to arrange pick up, and that’s it. Done!

Bin Delivery.

We schedule our bin delivery within a two-hour delivery window. You will be greeted by our friendly driver, and then they will drop the bin in your desired location that’s accessible by our truck. Our driver will also place boards down on your driveway for protection.

Fill it up.

Once you are ready to start filling your bin, you will notice there is a large door at the rear of the bin for easy access. Try to load your bin by distributing the weight evenly, and remember not to fill it above the top rails of the bin. Over-filling the bin would result in unsafe transport when we go to lift the bin up onto the truck; those items above the rails will slide right off.

If you find yourself in need of another bin, please call us, and we can make arrangements for another delivery. If you have any questions about the loading process, we will be glad to discuss it with you.

Pick it up.

Once you have finished loading your bin, and have made arrangements with us to come collect the bin. Please have the back door closed, clear access to the bin, and ensure it is a level load.

Now we are ready for pick up! Your bin will be hauled away to have all the recycling sorted and recycled. The rest will be disposed of responsibly. This is where you want to be sure that you have followed all of the rules on restricted and prohibited materials (See the list next). This is to avoid any unwanted fines by the CRD bylaw officers.

Bin Rental Material Restrictions

Before you have too much fun filling your bin, be aware that junk bin rental companies can’t accept all materials. As is the case with the majority of prohibited materials, it’s usually an issue of safety or environmental damage.

Some restricted materials are more obvious. You’ll need to find another way to dispose of your hazardous waste, chemicals, firearm ammunition, and the like. We require proper documentation stating that the material does not contain any asbestos or other hazardous materials.

Drywall Restrictions

For us to be able to accept any drywall into our bins for disposal, we must have a sample with the date stamped on the back, which states “1990” or newer. If there is no visible date stamp, it is required to be tested. If it is older than 1990, then it is also required for testing. Test results have to come back for the material as “0% containing/none detected”.

Restricted renovation materials require the following documentation:

  1. Hazardous Materials Assessment
  2. Clearance Letter, if hazardous materials were found.
  3. TCLP (Lead Leachability Test, if necessary)

*All reports must be dated within the past year to be accepted.

Bin Rental Costs

At The Junk Box, we try to make pricing straightforward for bin rentals. But at the end of the day, it will depend on what materials you’re disposing of.

To start, you have the choice of a 12 or 20-yard bin. For a standard 7-day rental, the prices are as follows:

If you’d like to extend your bin rental past the standard 7 days, we only charge $15.00 a day for extra rental days — regardless of bin size.

The rental of the bin itself is part one of your total cost. The second part is determined by what you’re disposing of. A full list of disposal fees by material can be found in this information sheet.

  • Mattress: $20
  • Fridge: $35

Ensure that the location you want the bin to be placed is clear of vehicles/debris, and is preferably a level surface. We need a location without low wires and tree limbs to safely unload the bin. We also prefer if there is an adult on site, but this is not necessary at the time of delivery.

Our bins can be used for a variety of jobs. Spring or fall cleaning projects, construction/demolition projects, or estate clean outs! They are a great space to put the unwanted debris to ensure it is sorted, recycled, and disposed of responsibly.

Our bins are delivered with a specialized hook lift truck. It can safely place the bin in a desired location at your residence, business or construction site. They are usually placed on a driveway or other unobstructed and preferably level location.
